Ultrafiltration is a type of membrane filtration that, like reverse osmosis, separates solid particles from the liquid influent source. In terms of particle capture size removal, this process falls between microfiltration and nanofiltration. It can be used as a prefilter for other treatment processes or as a tertiary polishing filter in drinking water and wastewater treatment applications. Ultrafiltration is used to recycle flow or add value to products in chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, beverage and food processing, and wastewater treatment.
