Navin Makhija on New Growth Corridors
Navin Makhija explains that the Panvel–Karjat suburban line, now around 80 percent complete, is emblematic of how new growth corridors emerge when transport infrastructure meaningfully improves across MMR. He notes that as access strengthens, areas once considered distant become viable for end-user housing, especially when supported by social amenities, open spaces and integrated planning. Makhija underlines that such corridors can gradually decongest saturated zones, distribute demand more evenly and create better-quality living environments, provided that development remains balanced, regulated and aligned with long-term connectivity and urbanization strategies.
