HeartDogs – Assistance & Therapy Dogs with Indies

HeartDogs Enablement Foundation works to advance disability inclusion in India through professionally trained assistance and therapy dogs. Our programme supports people and families affected by autism, mobility limitations, hearing impairment and other disabilities. Rescued Indian street dogs, commonly known as Indies, are trained for assistance and therapy roles and matched with families, hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centres and other care settings. The dogs are fostered and trained by women in rural India, creating paid, skilled livelihoods while building a network of trained women who play a central role in the programme. Our foster-trainers use compassionate, force-free and positive reinforcement methods throughout the dogs\' development. HeartDogs works with families, healthcare organisations, disability organisations, businesses and CSR/ESG partners to advance disability inclusion, accessible support and women\'s economic empowerment. By combining disability support, assistance and therapy dogs, and rural women\'s livelihoods, HeartDogs aims to make professionally trained support dogs more accessible across India while creating meaningful opportunities for people and communities.
