As society shifts away from invasive surgical procedures and toward minimally invasive interventional choices, there is now a perceived demand for live 3D image guidance to enhance 2D image guidance. Live X-ray and live 3D cardiac ultrasound imaging could be used in conjunction to direct minimally invasive structural heart repair procedures, with the ultrasound images offering additional insights into the soft tissue anatomy of the heart and the X-ray imaging providing visualization of catheters and heart implants.
