The format of the MRCOG exam
The MRCOG exam includes three parts:
Part 1 consists of multiple-choice (MCQs) covering various obstetrics and gynaecology topics. Candidates are judged based on their knowledge and understanding of the discipline’s fundamental sciences and clinical practice.
Part 2: The exam consists of short answer questions (SAQs) that test candidates’ ability to apply their knowledge in clinical circumstances. These questions challenge applicants to exhibit their ability to solve problems and make clinical decisions.
Part 3: The third and final phase of the MRCOG exam is an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). During this section, applicants rotate through several stations where they experience realistic clinical settings. They are evaluated on their clinical skills, communication talents, and professionalism throughout contacts.
The MRCOG exam comprehensively evaluates candidates’ knowledge, clinical competence, and ability to provide high-quality care in obstetrics and gynaecology.
