Aspirin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) widely used to relieve pain, fever, and inflammation by blocking prostaglandin synthesis in the body. It also irreversibly inhibits platelet aggregation, making it valuable as an antithrombotic agent to prevent blood clots. According to the World Health Organization aspirin is the most widely consume medications worldwide with 50–120 billion pills used annually worldwide and around 40,000 tonnes produced per year. In the U.S. alone, it was the 46th most prescribed drug in 2023 with over 14 million prescriptions. Aspirin drug relives from mild to moderate pain of headache, muscle aches, and fever.
