Effective Treatments for Bone Tumor

Bone tumors, whether benign or cancerous, need to be carefully diagnosed and treated to achieve the best outcome. The Bone tumor treatments will vary depending on the type, size, location, and extent of spread of the tumor. For benign bone tumors, management is usually to control symptoms, stop further growth, and preserve bone function. Treatment may involve observation, surgery to excise the tumor, or less aggressive procedures such as curettage (scraping out the tumor).Malignant bone cancers, however, need more aggressive management. The first line of treatment for cancerous bone cancer is usually a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Surgery is done to take out the tumor in a manner that leaves behind as much healthy bone as possible. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are usually applied to shrink tumors, manage spread of the cancer, or kill off remaining cancer cells after surgery.
