35+ Years of Handmade Memorial Monuments Hawkstone Memorials Ltd. was founded in 2018 by Vlad and Yaroslava after 35 years of experience in monument craftsmanship, having competed thousands of memorials. Vlad is a third generation European memorial builder. He started making memorials by hand as an apprentice in his family’s workshop in Knezha, Bulgaria, receiving the knowledge of the craft from his grandfather and father from a young age. He crafted monuments by the techniques his family taught him, carving them out of raw stone material and etching the designs and letterings by hand with a chisel and hammer. In Alberta, Canada, Vlad was lucky to learn new, modern techniques from the best in the industry before they retired
